Happy Spring! If you’re anything like me, you’re sick of the cold by the end of March and ready for bright and sunny days. Having your home match the bright and sunny atmosphere outside is a necessary step for many. I can attest that I’m sick of the grays and blacks in my home and would like to brighten things up. Today we’re going to do a little home decorating to get our property as ready for the warmth as we are.
“Can color make you feel warmer or cooler? Sure it can, just like it can make a room appear brighter or darker.” (The Spruce) We are focusing on manifesting nice weather and a warm feel throughout the home. It’s time to bring the sunshine inside, even if the weather is not agreeing just yet.
For the kitchen and dining room, dinnerware can be a subtle and fun way to add some color to your home. Pastel is an increasingly popular aesthetic in home decor, this West Elm Plates Set is sure to be the talk of the dinner party. Add a touch of floral to the table with this Sarah Campbell Bamboo Dinner Plate from Anthropology. Let your dinnerware bring some sunshine into the home with this 16 piece set from Wayfair, which is sleek and budget-friendly. It doesn’t need to stop at dinnerware. Let your glasses stand out as well. This Handblown Flora Cocktail Set from Etsy is the perfect way to serve up an Aperol Spritz on a warm evening. If you have a higher budget and want a stunning splash of color, get a set of Estelle Colored Wine Glasses. Swap out your tea towels with something a bit more fun, like these Artichoke 2 Pack Towels. Any of these options will set your kitchen apart and give your home a sunny feel.
It’s next time to move into your bedroom with some cheery suggestions. Curtains are an excellent way to add some light with subtlety. If you don’t mind curtains that let light in, these Sheer Curtains from Nottingham will fill your room with a warm orange glow. If it’s not clear by now, I love a floral print. These Midnight Blue Botanical Curtains are a real show stopper that alludes to Spring with more cool colors if that’s more of the palette you’re going for. Add a throw blank to the end of your bed in a warm complementary color to make the room pop. I personally just added this Mustard Knit Blanket from Sage Sill to my room and it makes it feel just a little bit more like Summer. Lighting is the ideal way to brighten up your bedroom. It can be sunset all the time with this stunning Golden Hour Lamp from Nordic Peace.
Now that your room is bright and colorful, let's move on to the living room. We can work from the ground up, starting with some area rugs! Rugs are an excellent way to show off your unique aesthetic. The Sefika Hand-Knotted Rug from Wayfair boasts a fun and elegant floral design sure to attract the eye. Let the floor serve as a sunset with the Watercolor Horizon Woven Rug from Dash and Albert. If you want to opt-out of a rug, or choose something more neutral, go for a festive couch instead. The Harvest Kayra Couch from Article is a modern masterpiece in a personal favorite color of mine if that’s not clear by now. For a classic, lush couch option, go for the Owen Chaise Sectional in Walnut. A final piece to add to the living room is some wall decor. Hanging plants may be trending at the moment, but I believe wall-mounted plant stands are the way to go. These Clay Wall Planters from Wayfair are the perfect accent to any room style.
The last place we’ll want to visit is the bathroom. A lot can be done to give your bathroom some brightness and individuality. Continue the trend of sunshine with this Orange Sun Shower Curtain from Etsy. Another Etsy find is this simple and tasteful Green and White Striped Shower Curtain that can fit well into any theme. Step out of the shower onto this Green Leaf Bath Matt, yet another Etsy option. (We’re big fans of Etsy here). If you prefer one solid color, the Reversible Cotton Bath Rug from The Company Store has a plethora of options to choose from. It wouldn’t be right if we didn’t close out with one final flowery choice. This Sunflower and Bee Bath Mat from Society 6 can work for either a children’s bath or any age in my opinion.
