Founded in 1971, South Burlington offers residents a much more urban environment than the neighboring municipalities. With a population over 19,000, it is one of Vermont’s largest cities. South Burlington’s economy is largely service-based, due to the large number of restaurants, shops, and commercial business located here. Home to Vermont’s largest airport, South Burlington offers travel opportunities for residents here and in surrounding towns. The city is currently investing in creating a walkable city center, pushing South Burlington further into a residential area.
