Love is in the air this February! Don’t let the chilly weather halt you from having the ultimate romantic evening this Valentine’s Day. Whether celebrating with significant others, friends, or families we have the perfect activity for you.
Valentine’s day isn’t all about romance with your partner. It should be about celebrating all of your loved ones! Make it a Galentine's event this year with wine and yummy small plates at Salt and Bubbles in Essex. You can either order online to pick up some treats and wine to go, then have a lady's day in, or make a reservation to dine inside or sit on the patio (weather dependent) to enjoy your bubbles. There’s nothing better than a girls' night with takeout and a great movie. Order from one of the several noteworthy take-out spots in Chittenden County and queue up a marathon. For food, some of our team’s favorite places are Sherpa Kitchen, Folino’s, Istanbul Kebab House, Tiny Thai, Bliss Bee, and Eco Bean and Greens. For movies, narrow it down to a few genres and put it to a vote. You can’t go wrong with classic tales of love gone awry to kick things off.
Keep things classic with a dinner for two at one of the incredible restaurants in Chittenden county that exude romance. What’s more romantic than French food? Head to the upscale Bistro De Margot to dine on a specially cultivated Valentine’s day menu. Enjoy your Lady and The Tramp moment over Italian food at Pascolo Ristorante. If you’re in saving mode, try their forty-five-dollar dinner for two options to optimize your experience while on a budget. The Essex Culinary Resort and Spa feature an incredible restaurant with a delicious option for any diner. Head to The Junction for an intimate and interactive experience during your meal. Vermont is filled with restaurants radiating romance and date night appeal.
Looking to celebrate love by booking a local getaway? There are some fantastic hotels and B&Bs to give you the ultimate romantic night without having to travel far away. Made Inn Vermont is a funky hotel that will allow you to enjoy a night away with your furry friend. That’s right, it’s dog-friendly! Be sure to check their availability and book your trip soon.
You can also enjoy a delicious meal or a full night at Hotel Vermont. Airbnb has some unique and cozy options for getaways on Valentine’s weekend or afterward. Escape your everyday life and check out this Braintree Cabin. Get lake views at this remote Cabin in Groton. For a more luxurious stay near skiing, stay in this Killington Chateau. If there’s no availability to take a trip at the last minute, give the destination as a present! Your partner will have something fun to look forward to if you book a weekend away for the Spring.
Spending V-Day with the whole family? There are plenty of activities you can all do together in and out of the house! With the cold winter we’ve been having, staying warm in the house sounds like a great idea this year. Spend the day making Valentine’s with your family, cook a group meal, and you can even set up an at-home wine tasting (juice tasting for the kids). Support local businesses by buying food and beverage from local markets like City Market Co-op, Jake’s One Market, Asian Food Mart, and Red Barn Market. If you’re sick of being stuck inside and want to make it an outdoor family outing, go to the Catamount Outdoor Family Center. You can rent skis, snowshoes, or fat bikes. It is important to note that rentals are on a first come first serve basis, so it’s better to book in advance of your trip.
No matter what you decide to do this year, be sure to tell the people in your life just how much you love and appreciate them. That’s an even better gift than flowers.
